弟子たちは天の国について、イエス様の受難と復活について聞き、また数々の奇跡やしるしを見てきたのにもかかわらず、一番争いをしていた様子が今日の箇所から読み取れます。
彼らの質問は「天の国ではだれが一番偉いのでしょうか?」という非常に人間的にも、興味をそそる質問でした。学校でも職場でも、家庭の中でさえも、私たち人間は「誰が一番か？」に大変興味を持っている生き物だと思います。そしてイエス様答えは、一番偉いのはなんと「子供のような者である」でした。
「心を入れ替えて子供のようにならなければ、決して天の国に入ることはできない。」
心が子供ということは、純粋で清い心（Pure Heart）をもつことなのではないか、と思います。これがないと「決して」天の国に入れない。
年を重ねたり経験を重ねていくと人は奢ったり高ぶったりしがちです。そのようにならないために、やはりイエス様の謙遜さを見つめて、それに倣い、日々その傲慢さをイエス様の十字架の力によって打ち砕いてくださるしか方法はありません。そのようにしていくと、小さな存在を愛おしく、また虐げられている人や困っている人を憐れむことのできる心が生まれてくるのだと信じます。
From today’s story, I can guess that the disciples are competing each other about who will be the great man in heaven even they have heard about suffering and resurrection of Jesus and seen a lot of miracles. Their question is very intriguing from the point of view of humanity.
We all are the creature who are very interested in “Who is the great man” question in school, company, and community, even among family. And Jesus answer is surprising one, “The greatest is a man like a child in heaven”!
“Never can enter into heaven if you won’t change and replace your heart with child-like heart.”
We need “pure” heart like child.
We tend to be arrogant and have superiority growing old and building on one's knowledge and experiences. To avoid this, we just behold Him and his modesty, and follow it, and break my such tendencies with the power of Jesus cross. If we do so, I believe we could care and love neighbor, tiny presences, we could have mercy heart for people who are oppressed or troubled.
