イエス様が宣教と癒しの旅からガリラヤに戻られたとき、再びこれから起こることを予告されました。「これから人々の手に引き渡され、殺されるが、三日目には復活する」と。本当に具体的な話です。
この予告に対して彼らは「非常に悲しんだ」とあります。
このことからも、まだ彼らはイエス様が「殺されるが、復活する」という希望のメッセージを、希望として受け止められていなかったことがわかります。
どうしてそのような苦難をイエス様がこれから通過しなければならないのか？弟子たちはイエス様にこのようなご質問を一切しなかったのでしょうか？そのようなことを考える心の余裕もないほどイエス様がこれから殺されるという事実を考えるだけでも打ちひしがれる思いだったのかもしれません。
しかし、彼らの奥底にあった思いとは、“彼らの心が高慢で、世俗の栄誉を渇望していた（各時代の希望）”ものだということです。これがイエス様の予告を信じなかった一番の理由だと。
イエス様は神様だと口では告白しているのに、そのお方が語る言葉を信じることができないのが、人間の罪の根本的な問題なのではないか、と改めて思わされます。
聖書の都合の良いところは喜んで信じ、都合の悪いところは無視するか軽く受け止める。このような態度は非常に生温い状態で、イエス様の口から吐き出されてしまいます。
聖書を全面的に信じたいという真摯な思いがあるか？神の言葉に畏れを抱けているか？
今日もそのことを探っていただきたいと思います。
When Jesus and his disciples came back to Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The son of man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him and the third day He will be raised up.” What Jesus said is very specific and not so complicated. And the disciples were exceedingly sorrowed by hearing this.
This fact shows that they couldn’t regard what Jesus said “killed BUT be raised up” as the message of tremendous hope, but as very tragic story. Why didn’t they ask Jesus at all why Jesus should pass such terrible road and suffering by himself, what is the meaning of this?
I assume that they were so devastated and had little mental space to think about the meaning of Jesus hardship feeling that Jesus was about to be killed!
But their thoughts that were deep in them were that their hearts were so arrogant and desired secular honor for Jesus and them, and theses characters led them not to believe what Jesus foretold completely (The desire of ages).
I think it is the fundamental problem of the human’s sin not to believe God’s word with 100% confidence despite they confess that Jesus is the son of God through their mouth.
We tend to believe God’s words which are very convenient or attractive but ignore or take lightly which are not beneficial to us.
Jesus says that such our attitude towards God’s word is very lukewarm and want to spit them out of his mouth.
I would like to have my heart explored by God deeply today whether or not I have sincere desire to believe God’ word and I am awed by the word of God.
